Your First Few Nights

Knowing what to expect makes all the difference. Here is what the first few nights might look like.

The first nights can feel hard

It is completely normal for the first few nights to be more unsettled than usual. Your baby is learning a new skill, and that takes time. This does not mean the plan is not working.

What to expect

You may notice more crying, more wake-ups or more resistance at bedtime in the early days. This is a normal part of the adjustment. Most families begin to see real improvement within 5 to 7 nights.

You are not doing it wrong

Feeling unsure or emotional during those first nights is perfectly normal. Trust the process. You know your baby best — and you are doing something loving by helping them learn to sleep.

Progress is rarely a straight line

Some nights will be better than others. A difficult night after a few good ones does not mean you are back to square one. Keep going — the overall trend is what matters.

"You are closer to a full night of sleep than you think. Keep going — you've got this."
