Why teaching independent sleep matters for your baby's wellbeing
The Core Principle
Independent sleep isn't about leaving your baby to cry alone. It's about teaching them a vital skill — the ability to self-soothe and transition between sleep cycles without needing external help. This skill supports better sleep for your baby AND your entire family.
The Golden Rule
"Start as you mean to go on." The conditions present when your baby falls asleep should be the same conditions when they wake between cycles. If the environment changes (parent leaves, rocking stops, milk ends), baby will call out for help to recreate those conditions.
